Looking at Movement Differently
This is a B2R education resource building on the shoulders of giants (see references) to help our clients BUY IN to the active interventions proven effective for persistent pain and well-being.
The short cut would be to jump to playing games and exposing people to new ways to move. We might need to work a little harder to help things make sense for the people we help, this book is a story telling aid to get across some plausible adaptations in the nervous system that can explain sensitivity that can persist. We deliberatly do not tell you exactly HOW to use these pages, however we do urge that you bring the content to life by marrying up movement interventions of your own with the pages we provide.
Over the course of working with together our goal might be to give someone a positive experience of moving their body whilst making the process relevant and meaningful to what they need to be able to do; move relaxed, thoughtless and without fear (Gifford, 2014).
No exercise modality has proven superior for aches and pains. Movement and exercise DOES help people however and these benefits could be attributed to the fact they are doing something ‘new’, be that rest or movement. We could be liberated by this and make our exercise selection more interesting...
